Mario Golf (Nintendo Game Boy Color, 1999)
|Get your hands on one of the most popular golf games ever released by Nintendo with Mario Golf for Nintendo Game Boy Color. This fun sports-related game gives you the opportunity to hone your golfing skills by playing golf as some of your favorite Mario characters, from Mario and Luigi to Kid and Azalea. Mario Golf offers several different play modes, including Tournament, Stroke, Match Game, and the notorious challenge mode, Marion Clubhouse. Practice your swing abilities to perfection in four different courses, each with 18 holes, from an overhead perspective showing you the angle of every hit. Opt for a Transfer Pak peripheral and gain the ability to transfer data between your Game Boy version of Mario Golf and your Nintendo 64. Pick up a game link cable to connect two Game Boys together and play against your friends.
Unlike the console version, it includes role-playing video game elements.
This game features Transfer Pak compatibility with the Game Boy Color version of Mario Golf. Players are able to upload characters and data found on the Game Boy version to the Nintendo 64 version. That way, you can play as these characters in full 3D. Additionally, data from the Nintendo 64 version is saved onto the Game Boy Color version of the game. However, the characters imported onto the Nintendo 64 version are not saved onto the cartridge; you must upload the characters again to play as them on the Nintendo 64. After playing a round with a GBC Character, that character will earn experience points.
The game was met with positive reception. GameRankings and Metacritic gave it a score of 88% for the Game Boy Color version. In Japan, Famitsu gave the game a score of 30/40.
