Street Fighter 2: Special Championship Edition (Sega Genesis, 1993)
|Rather than focusing on storyline, Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition focuses on fighting technique and the player's ability to master the various moves of the different combatants. Each of their moves are executed through a series of joypad movements and button combinations. The innovative button design allows for three potencies of punches and kicks, which not only gives a greater amount of potential moves, but forces players to develop effective strategies to counter a variety of attacks. In addition, the ability to play multiple characters gives Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition immense replay value.
The Sega version of this game in particular is considered by many to be an accurate translation of the arcade hit, with reworked sound/sound effects and special codes that can be used to play as the boss characters.
