Technoclash (Sega Genesis, 1993)

  • $1600

A world populated by wizards is invaded by a race of machines, causing havoc. Ronaan, a wizard, embarks on a journey after a magical staff is stolen from his homeland. It's up to Ronaan, Farrg and Chaz to prevent the destruction of their world as they travel through Las Vegas, a junkyard, a desert and the heart of the Machine Empire.

The Robot Lord has unleashed a deadly attack, and Ronaan (the Wizard Prince of the Inner Realm) is the only one who can stop him. Defend your world as you use your loyal bodyguards to help you as you reach Earth a planet where the evils of technology rule the environment. You'll have nine awesome weapons at your disposal, such as fire globes, lightning bolts, time bombs, and more. Choose from two bodyguards, and then seek out Indar the Hawk of Second Sight to gain valuable insight into each of the seven battlefields. Use four spells to heal yourself, levitate, teleport, and become invincible, as you take on multiple challenges and conquer new environments. With a little something for everyone, this is an all-out war against machines.

At the beginning of each level, the player can choose his partner: the magic apprentice Chaz or the mercenary Farrg.

The four reviewers of Electronic Gaming Monthly gave the game a 6.5 out of 10, deeming it "a poor man's Gauntlet". They commented that the variety of weapons and spells is good but that the game is hard to the point where it's impossible to derive enjoyment out of it, particularly criticizing that the backgrounds make it hard to see enemies and other hazards. Swedish game magazine Datormagazin gave the game a score of 3/5.
